Tale of Genji Set of 3 Lithograph Reproductions - Interesting set of three lithograph reproductions of scenes from the "Tale of Genji" scroll in the Gotoh Museum. Painted between 1120 - 1140, the scroll is the oldest example of a "monogatari emaki" or illustrated narrative handscroll. Each image is mounted along the top edge to lightweight paperboard, with a tissue paper overlay that folds over the image. The museum's name and the scroll title are printed in kanji on the backing board beneath the image. A nice way to acquire imagery from this historically and artistically important work. Please note, these are lithograph reproductions, not woodblock prints. Published in 1972.

Artist - Heian era artist (unsigned)

Size - Image size 8 1/8" x 19 3/4"; backing board 11" x 21 7/8"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Mounted along top edge to board. Rippling. Backing boards have toning and spotting. Please see photos for details.
