Rice Planting Ceremony

Comments - Unusual scene of ladies of the Imperial court viewing a rice planting ceremony. The women are gathered beneath a striped canopy at right, while at left, several beauties play drums and flutes. A row of identically dressed women stand in the flooded field holding rice plants, ready to put them into the ground. Two farmers are plowing in the field beyond, and another walks along the embankment with a yoke of his shoulder. The first time we've seen this intriguing subject.
