Comments - Interesting scene of beauties raising silkworms to create silk. At bottom, a woman kneels over a tray holding mulberry branches to which the cocoons are attached. Her sleeves at tied back with a red sash to keep them from getting in the way. At upper left, her companion reaches into a tray holding silkworms feeding on mulberry leaves. She wears a blue apron with a spider web pattern over her floral print kimono. A handsome look at some of the stages of sericulture.
