Samurai with a Gun

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of a confrontation between a mother and her child and two men. At right, a samurai holds a gun in his outstretched hand, frowning as he stares at his companions. The man in the center grimaces angrily, one hand clenched in a fist and the other resting atop a red bucket. The woman leans forward as she throws out her arm to protect the young girl behind her, who watches with a worried expression. The actors include Ichikawa Danjuro in the center panel and Onoe Kikugoro in the right panel. Nice large colorful figures, detailed with burnishing on the woman's black obi and the black kimono collars.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 13 7/8" x 27 3/4"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels, backed with paper. Slight curling and ink bleeding, a few small stains, light vertical lines where backing papers meet. Please see photos for details.
