Sightseeing on the Sumida Embankment

Comments - Beautiful Meiji era triptych of court ladies enjoying a walk along the bank of the Sumida River to view cherry blossoms. At left, a young woman uses her fan to point out a view, and beside her, an attendant stands ready with a lacquer tray of writing supplies to create poem slips. In the center, a lady-in-waiting holds an umbrella over a princess. The pink and white blossoms form a lovely canopy overhead. An attractive scene of this traditional spring pastime, with vibrant colors.
