Original Kuniyoshi (1797 - 1861) Japanese Woodblock Print
Distraught Beauty, 1849 - 1850

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of a seated beauty looking down with a distraught expression, her mouth slightly agape. An orange print kimono lies heaped on the floor behind her, and she holds a roll of tissues in one hand. A circular inset at upper left depicts a commoner scowling angrily as he looks over his shoulder, a white cloth wrapped around his head. Nicely composed, with expressive figures.

Image Size - 14" x 9 7/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Losses and tears at edges, thinning spots and holes, repaired. Wrinkling throughout, toning, slight soiling, a few stains. Please see photos for details.
