Ichikawa Danjuro as Kato Kiyomasa, 1899 - Striking kabuki portrait of Ichikawa Danjuro as the great warrior Kato Kiyomasa, looking to the side as he holds a pole arm against his shoulder. He wears a fine suit of armor over a brown brocade robe, and a helmet topped with horns and a court cap. The tip of the weapon and the top of the cap rise above the light blue border, adding a sense of dimension. A bold, large figure, detailed with metallic pigment that has oxidized to a dark tone on the blade and the cap.
