Onoe Matsusuke as Yokawa Kakuhan - Dramatic kabuki portrait of Onoe Matsusuke as the warrior monk Yokawa Kakuhan during a battle with Sato Tadanobu at a shrine on Mt. Yoshino. The brave Tadanobu had exchanged armor with his lord, Minamoto no Yoshitsune, to allow him to escape while he remained behind to fight Kakuhan and his men. Here, Kakuhan looks up as he leans forward, wearing a monk's headdress and black robe over his armor. The red shrine building behind him is covered with snow at upper left. A colorful design with a large expressive figure.
