Publisher - Adachi from a rare series of Edo masterwork designs. Adachi publisher seal in margin or on reverse.

Adachi was one of the most respected publishers of the 20th century. Their woodblocks were printed to the highest standards with excellent color and fine detail. Founded in 1925, Adachi also chose interesting and varied subjects for their prints and was the only publisher of many famous old ukiyo-e images.

Beauty Washing Her Neck - Attractive portrait of a beauty washing her neck as she kneels beside a wooden tub of water. The sleeves of her gray and white print kimono have been pushed down to the waist, a white ribbon tying back her hair. Several combs rest on the floor at lower right, and at upper left, a light blue robe hangs over a folding screen depicting scholars in a bamboo grove. The first time we've seen this charming Edo era beauty design in reprint.
