Fashionable Genji in the Plum Garden, 1853

Comments - Charming scene of a beauty walking across the stepping stones of a pond in a plum garden. She pauses to look back over her shoulder with a smile, lifting the edge of her robe to keep it from getting wet. The plum trees are dotted with blossoms and buds against a pink sky, and a couple of pine shoots frame the view at lower right. At center left, a low fence encloses a stone marker atop a grassy slope. An attractive early spring scene.
