Seki Sanjuro III as Nippondaemon, 1862

Comments - Terrific kabuki portrait of Seki Sanjuro III as the famous thief Nippondaemon wearing a fantastic kimono with a design of an eagle over the shoulders and sparrows in flight below. He lifts the hem of his robe with one hand as he scowls over his shoulder, an umbrella decorated with large kanji characters in his other hand. A handsome design with beautiful detail in the eagle's feathers and soft shading in the kimono and sky. A great design.
