Comments - Interesting scene from the Battle of Kawanakajima along the banks of the Sai River when the forces of the Kai and Echigo Provinces faced off across the water. General Uesugi Kenshin's troops are massed along the shore at right, ready for battle with spears in hand. Takeda Shingen's men are gathered along the bank at left, with Shingen astride a dappled horse, gesturing with his battle fan, his helmet topped with a demon's head and a flowing white wig. An array of banners and personal standards flutters above the imposing armies. A handsome design with an unusual composition.
