Chushingura, Act 4, 1899 - Handsome illustration from Act 4 of the classic kabuki play based on the 47 ronin, "Chushingura." Lord Hangan is ordered to commit suicide following his argument with Lord Moronao in which he cut him with his sword. His faithful retainer Oboshi Yuranosuke kneels at Hangan's side, looking up with a careworn expression, vowing to avenge his master's death. Hangan wears pale blue and gray death robes, preparing to bare his stomach for the ritual. Expressive faces in this interesting print, with nicely detailed with burnishing on the black kimono.

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Backed with paper. Slight curling and ink bleeding, slight soiling and rubbing at edges. Please see photos for details.
