Attacking Inabayama Castle - Handsome scene of Oda Nobunaga's men attacking Inabayama Castle in Mino Province. Kinoshita Tokichiro (the young Toyotomi Hideyoshi) was instrumental in the victory, leading a raid into the castle and opening the gates for Nobunaga's army to enter. Here, fighting takes place outside the walls of the fortress, with men engaged in hand-to-hand combat, swinging swords and spears. At left, a general on horseback urges his men on, directing them with a tasseled command baton. At upper right, a gourd on a spear appears above the wall, Hideyoshi's signal to the troops to begin the attack. A great atmospheric setting with the trees trunks rising up into the night sky. Nicely detailed and shaded.

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Two separate panels, backed with paper. Vertical folds and ripples, diagonal fold. Tear at edge, repaired. Curling, slight soiling, a few creases and marks. Please see photos for details.
