Harunobu (1724 - 1770) Japanese Woodblock Reprint
Sunset Glow at Ryogoku Bridge

Series; Eight Fashionable Views of Edo

Publisher - Adachi from a rare series of Edo masterwork designs. Adachi publisher seal in margin or on reverse.

Adachi was one of the most respected publishers of the 20th century. Their woodblocks were printed to the highest standards with excellent color and fine detail. Founded in 1925, Adachi also chose interesting and varied subjects for their prints and was the only publisher of many famous old ukiyo-e images.

Sunset Glow at Ryogoku Bridge - Attractive image of two beauties on a verandah overlooking the Sumida River as the sun sets. One leans against a railing, resting her head against her chin, a fan in hand. Several boats can be seen on the water, including one with a fisherman pulling in his net, and the snow-capped peak of Mt. Fuji rises in the distance above low clouds. Beautiful detail and soft color. A subject rarely seen in reprint.

Artist - Harunobu (1724 - 1770)

Image Size - 11" x 8 1/8"

Condition - With excellent color and detail as shown. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
