Plum Blossoms at Night, the Way You Like Them, 1847 - 1852

Comments - Lovely scene of beauties strolling past an enormous old plum tree at night. The beauty at right smiles back at her companions as she walks along, holding the edges of her kimono together with one hand. The woman in the center wears a finely striped kimono with a leaf pattern, her hair pulled into a smoot knot adorned with floral ornaments. White blossoms and buds dot the tree, its trunk and branches rendered in bold calligraphic strokes against the evening sky. A beautiful subject.
