Kawarazaki Gonjuro I as Araiso no Danshichi, 1863 - Handsome kabuki portrait of Kawarazaki Gonjuro I as Araiso no Danshichi, looking over his shoulder with a worried expression, his brows slightly furrowed. He wears a boldly patterned blue and white summer kimono, with a dotted towel wrapped around his neck. A large inset behind his head includes text, set against a background of pine branches in dark silhouette, with a box at upper left featuring a carp. An expressive figure from a rarely seen series.

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Slight thinning at edge, a few holes, repaired. Slight toning and soiling, a few creases and stains, thinning. Please see photos for details.
