Man in a Bamboo Grove, 1847 - 1852

Comments - Interesting portrait of a man in a bamboo grove, frowning angrily as he looks down, striking a pose with his leg extended to the side. He lifts the edge of his robe with one hand, the other folded across his chest. His kimono is shaded from gray to blue and decorated with large characters that are tie-dyed, line with a brown check. The bamboo leaves appear in silhouette against the softly shaded evening sky. A handsome design.
