Seki no To, 1899 - Dramatic scene from the play commonly known as "Seki no To." The barrier guard Sekibei is shown attacking the lovely courtesan Sumizome, who is actually the spirit of a cherry tree that Sekibei attempted to chop down while drunk. The wild-haired warrior grips an ax over his shoulder, grimacing angrily at the beauty. She crouches before him, clutching a blossoming cherry branch as a weapon. A dramatic design.

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Backed with paper. Slight curling and ink bleeding, light stain on beauty's face, slight soiling and rubbing at edges. Please see photos for details.
