Sawamura Tanosuke as the Wife Okaru, 1863

Comments - Interesting scene from the tale of the 47 ronin of the ronin featuring Sawamura Tanosuke as Okaru, the wife of the ronin Hayano Kampei. She looks up with a slight smile as she kneels on the floor, a blue and white cloth in her hand. Woodblock prints decorate the low folding screen beside her. The home is shabby with missing plaster on the wall at upper left. Nice detail in the interior setting.

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 9 1/2" + top margin as shown
