Series; Thirty-six Hero-poets

Yamamoto Kansuke, 1852 - Interesting portrait of Yamamoto Kansuke, one of Takeda Shingen's famous generals. He stands in the snow, looking up with an angry scowl, his spear resting against his shoulder. He wears a print kimono tucked into striped pants, and a hood and leggings made of matting. An inset at upper left shows three men along the edge of a river, one bending over to adjust his sandal. A verse by Kansuke appears in the sky above. Despite the title, only seven prints from this series are known, and this subject is not listed in Robinson. Nicely detailed.

Image Size - 13 5/8" x 9 1/8"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Loss at corner, small tear at edge, holes, repaired. Toning, soiling, creasing, slight rubbing at edges. Please see photos for details.
