Harunaga at the Battle of Honnonji Temple, 1868 - Interesting scene of a battle taking place at Honnonji Temple. Although the title seems to refer to the death of Oda Nobunaga (here called Harunaga) in battle at Honnoji Temple in 1582, the subject seems more Meiji, with soldiers in black uniforms at lower right shooting guns while other troops fire cannons, smoke billowing from the barrels. An unusual subject.

Artist - Katsukawa Eisai

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 9 5/8" + top margin as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. A couple small holes, repaired. Slight toning and soiling, a few creases. Please see photos for details.
