Series; Bairei's Album of Flowers and Birds (Bairei Kacho Gafu)

Bairei's Album of Flowers and Birds - This lovely print comes from Bairei's series "Album of Flowers and Birds," first published in 1883. Considered by many his best work, this beautiful series features birds paired with flowers for each of the four seasons. Depicted in their natural habitat or perched on striking floral arrangements, the birds are carefully observed and beautifully drawn with a wonderful attention to detail, as are the flowers and plants. The series was quite popular, and this print comes from a second edition published in 1899. These attractive woodblocks are a fine choice for a bird or flower enthusiast.

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Slight paper remnants on reverse at side from original album mounting. Stitching holes at side. Slight toning. Some prints have a few creases or spots, or slight soiling at edges. Please see photos for details.
