Sketch of Kameido, Tokyo, 1868 - Handsome scene of a procession taking place at Kameido Tenjin Shrine in Tokyo. At left, a group of men dressed in matching kimono and black caps carries a mikoshi, a sacred palanquin used to transport a Shinto deity during a festival. Samurai walk alongside, with horsemen leading the way. Clouds separate the foreground from a view of other mikoshi moving between the shrine buildings. An interesting subject with wonderful detail.
