Original Fumio Kitaoka (1918 - 2007) Japanese Woodblock Print
Fifth Avenue A, 1984

Comments - Fantastic sosaku hanga woodblock print of bustling Fifth Avenue in New York. The sidewalks are crowded with pedestrians, and a customer waits at a hot dog vendor's stand at left. An American flag flies from one of the high-rise buildings towering above the figures, and a pair of women stop to chat at right, standing under a street sign. A lively and colorful image, wonderfully capturing the energy of a New York street, uniquely seen from the perspective of a foreigner. A rare, pencil signed limited edition print of a terrific American subject.
