Ichikawa Shinnosuke as Tsunetoshi and Sawamura Tanosuke at the Younger Sister Tamazasa, 1863

Comments - Handsome kabuki double portrait featuring Ichikawa Shinnosuke as the samurai Tsunetoshi and Tanosuke at the younger sister Tamazasa. Tsunetoshi strikes a strange pose, kneeling on the ground with both hands thrown up in the air. His blue outer kimono has been pushed down to the waist to reveal a red brocade robe over armor tucked into patterned pants. The beauty holds a short sword in her hand, staring down at her companion with a slight smile. Willow branches frame the night sky above. Nice expressive figures.

Artist - Kunisada II (1823 - 1880)

Image Size - 14" x 9 1/2" + top margin as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Slight separation at end of horizontal centerfold, a couple thinning spots, repaired. Slight toning and soiling, a few creases and stains. Please see photos for details.
