Travelers Pausing to Rest

Comments - Lovely triptych showing a party of women travelers pausing to rest as they reach the top of a hill. One sits on a fabric-covered trunk, smoking a pipe, as a companion shields her eyes with her hand, enjoying a view of the majestic peak of Mt. Fuji rising above bands of clouds. She wears an exquisite red-orange kimono patterned with grasses and blossoms, tied with a black obi. Another beauty rides a horse up the path, the animal led by a groom. Vines twine around the pine tree at right, and the lake below is bordered with mountains. A beautiful subject with fine embossed detail in the white kimono collars. A wonderful Chikanobu design.
