Original Takashi Ito (1894 - 1982) Japanese Woodblock Print
Ferry at Odai, 1922

Comments - Beautiful depiction of the ferry at Odai in Tokyo. Smoke and flames rise from a brazier on board the ship in the foreground, a single figure in the front of the boat. The warm orange glow from the windows on the opposite shore is reflected in the shimmering water below, the shore shrouded in early morning mist with a delicate pinkish tone. A lovely design with rich deep color in the foreground and wonderful soft bokashi shading. This wonderfully detailed harbor scene is Ito's most well-known design and is rarely seen. A great lifetime edition of this rare shin-hanga subject.
