Sawamura Tanosuke as Princess Yaegaki, 1861

Comments - Interesting kabuki portrait of Sawamura Tanosuke as Princess Yaegaki leaning against a wooden post. She tilts her head as she looks suspiciously out of the corners of her eyes, holding her sleeve up before her. She wears a red outer robe patterned with chrysanthemums over a pink kimono decorated with cherry blossoms, her hair pulled back into a smooth bun adorned with ribbons and a cluster of blue flowers. A screen at upper left features a view of the ocean. A handsome design, nicely detailed.

Image Size - 14 3/8" x 9 5/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Tiny wormhole, repaired. Slight toning, a few creases. Please see photos for details.
