Kawarazaki Gonjuro as Ishikawa Tomoichi, 1863

Comments - Interesting kabuki portrait of Kawarazaki Gonjuro as the monk Ishikawa Tomoichi standing outside a doorway, frowning angrily. He holds a portable gong in one hand and a hammer in the other, dressed in a voluminous gray robe with a hood covering his head. Nice shading across the top of the night sky.

Image Size - 14" x 9 3/8" + top margin as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Diagonal fold across bottom. Slight separation at ends of horizontal centerfold, a few wormholes, small loss at edge, repaired. Slight toning and soiling, a few creases, stains. Please see photos for details.
