Original Hiroshige II (1826 - 1869) Japanese Woodblock Print
Picture of the Coast of Yokohama, 1860

Comments - Terrific view of the coast of Yokohama, with a beauty at lower left surveying the shore through a telescope from the upper story of a teahouse, with rooftops stretching out into the distance. A ferry carries passengers across the water, a few ships anchored in the harbor and lined up along the beach in the distance. Clouds decorated with confetti-like shapes drift across the scene, with a blossoming cherry trees between the tile roofs along the bottom edge. An attractive design with fine bokashi shading.
