Cockatoo on a Basket of Orchids

Comments - Lovely shin-hanga design of a cockatoo perched on the edge of a basket filled with orchids. The slender green leaves contrast nicely with the white bird, and the blossoms are shaded in different colors. An attractive design, nicely composed. This print is from a limited edition of 200, hand numbered on reverse. An embossed seal at lower right gives the names of the carver, Kentaro Maeda, and the printer, Koichi Hirai, but no publisher is given. Kentaro Maeda was a master printer who carved blocks for some prints by Hasui and Paul Jacoulet as well as other artists.
Numbered - 15/200

Artist - Ichiro (dates unknown)

Image Size - Page size 10 1/4" x 15 5/8"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. A few natural creases in paper. Thin spot at edge due to the handmade nature of the paper. Please see photos for details.
