Comments - Charming triptych depicting three beauties standing on the verandah of a teahouse, taking a brief break from the evening's entertainment. The woman in the center carries a small kettle, smiling happily as she chats with her companions. The beauty at right wears a flowing kimono patterned with Genji symbols and paulownia blossoms, pausing in the doorway with a candle burning on a stand behind her. Geisha are silhouetted on the shoji windows, playing music and dancing for the guests, and the scene is framed by a blossoming cherry tree and a large stone lantern. The Boston Museum of Fine Arts has this image in its collection. A lovely, traditional Edo era beauty subject.
