Ishu Kankokai - The publisher Ishu Kankokai of Tokyo is best known for its commemorative edition prints of shin-hanga beauties by Torii Kotondo and Hashiguchi Goyo, but they also did fine quality reprints in the 1980s of classic ukiyo-e works by masters such as Hokusai and Utamaro.
Comments - Attractive portrait of a beauty holding a sheet of paper with writing on it. She looks down with a thoughtful expression, her slightly open lips revealing tiny, even teeth. Her hair is swept back into a large bun with wings at the side, adorned with a few simple hairpins. She wears a gray outer kimono trimmed with a plaid collar over a plum robe with a tie-dyed seashell design. A lovely image with a beautiful soft color palette.
Artist - Utamaro (1750 - 1806)
Image Size - 15 1/8" x 10 1/8" + margins as shown
Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
