A Fuji Arts Special Offer Auction

The Storehouse of Loyal Retainers - Hiroshige did several series of "The Storehouse of Loyal Retainers" (Chushingura), the famous tale of the 47 ronin. This is an unusual chuban size version published by Sanoki featuring large figures set into nicely detailed backgrounds. The two censor seals are Hama and Magomi, which suggest a date of 1849 to 1852. We've only seen a handful of designs from this series before. A rare series and a nice choice for a Hiroshige collector.
