Comments - Interesting kabuki portrait of Sawamura Tanosuke as the geisha Kosan, set against a patchwork of checked patterns and two Noh theater masks. She tilts her head with a sly smile as she looks out of the corners of her eyes, a pipe in her hand. The mask at top center is Hyottoko, a comic character with his mouth puckered to one side as he is traditionally shown blowing through a bamboo pipe on a fire. A striking and unusual design.
