Sawamura Tanosuke at Princess Orikoto and Bando Hikosaburo as Sogen, 1862

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene featuring Sawamura Tanosuke at Princess Orikoto and Bando Hikosaburo as Sogen. The beauty hides behind her sleeve as if frightened, but she smiles playfully. Below, Sogen has grabbed hold of her sleeve, falling backwards onto the ground with an umbrella in his other hand. Orikoto's red kimono features blossoms and tie-dyed water, trimmed with tassels and bows, her hair adorned with a cluster of light blue flowers. Nicely detailed with an embossed pattern on Sogen's white kimono.
