Original Kunichika (1835 - 1900) Japanese Woodblock Print
Bando Hikosaburo as Komurasaki

Comments - Interesting kabuki portrait of Bando Hikosaburo as the courtesan Komurasaki. She looks up with a wary expression as she holds out a roll of tissues or paper, her other hand resting atop a slender pipe. She wears a red tie-dyed kimono bordered with a light blue floral print, tied with a blue brocade obi that reverses to yellow. The corner of a hibachi can be seen at lower right, with a flame burning in a lamp on a stand nearby. An expressive figure, nicely detailed.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 9 1/2"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Horizontal centerfold. A couple tears and losses, a few wormholes and thinning spots, repaired. Slight toning, soiling, and creasing, rubbing at edges. Please see photos for details.
