Matron and Young Girl

Comments - Handsome kabuki scene of a matron and a young girl outside a shrine. The woman gently touches the child under her chin as the girl looks up with a smile. She is wearing a string of votive slips around her neck like those worn by people on a pilgrimage. A stone railing runs along the base of the grassy slope behind them, with the pillar of a torii gate at upper right and blossoming cherry branches. The background is divided diagonally with a tie-dyed textile pattern at upper left. Nicely colored and detailed, with burnishing on the black obi and kimono collar.

Artist - Kunisada III (1848 - 1920)

Image Size - 17 3/4" x 9 1/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Horizontal folds. A few pinpoint holes. Slight creasing, slight soiling at edges, a few marks and tiny spots. Please see photos for details.
