Original Kunichika (1835 - 1900) Japanese Woodblock Print
Swordfight

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of two men fighting with swords beside a tall wooden marker. The rogue at right thrusts his sword forward, a pipe in his other hand. The young man in the center counters the blow, wielding his weapon with both hands. The samurai at left watches with a scowl, pushing up the sleeve of his blue outer robe. Nice large figures with fine line work in the hair, set against a dramatic red background with handsome wood grain impression.
