Series; The Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido by Two Brushes

Totsuka: Traveler and Waitress at an Inn - Charming scene of a waitress serving a traveler at an inn. She carries a red lacquer tray with a bowl of food and a bottle of sake, smiling as she leans forward to offer them to the guest. He grins back at her, reaching eagerly for the wine as he fans himself, one sleeve of his blue plaid kimono pushed down to the waist. Above, Hiroshige offers a view of travelers making their way up a steep hill at Totsuka. Tall trees tower above the road, dwarfing the figures and the thatched-roof houses. A handsome image from this interesting collaborative series. This print is from a later edition with a colored background.
