Original Yoshitora (active circa 1840 - 1880) Japanese Woodblock Print
Courtesan in a Blossoming Plum Tree Kimono Kakemono, 1871

Comments - Lovely kakemono or vertical diptych of an elegantly dressed courtesan enjoying a stroll, smiling happily as she looks back over her shoulder. She wears a striking kimono shaded from blue to yellow, patterned with birds perched on the branches of a blossoming plum tree. Her outer robe is trimmed with layers of geometric print brocade in light blue, brown, and green, worn over a red under robe and tied with a boldly patterned obi. She wears tall black geta clogs and her hair is adorned with many decorative hairpins and combs. Beautifully colored and composed to fit the vertical format. A nice choice for display.

Artist - Yoshitora (active circa 1840 - 1880)

Image Size - 27 7/8" x 9 1/2"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Two attached panels. Paper remnants on reverse at top and bottom from previous mounting. Vertical folds. A few holes, repaired. Creasing, slight soiling. Please see photos for details.
