Woman with a Fan, 1882 - Unusual portrait of a woman holding a fan. She may represent the one of the traditional boy and girl China dolls known as "fukusuke," which are considered lucky. The girl is called Fukujo She wears a purple kimono decorated with objects such as a writing brush and drawstring purse. Wisteria vines in silhouette frame the scene above. The first time we've seen this Chikanobu design.

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Backed with stiff paper. Wormholes at edges, repaired. Slight toning, soiling and ink offsetting, slight rubbing at edge. Please see photos for details.
