Gathering Shellfish at Low Tide at Tempozan, 1897 - Charming lithograph print of women and children gathering shellfish at low tide in Tempozan. One beauty bends over to capture a crab as a boy races towards her. A lighthouse can be seen on a hill at right, and an oval inset offers a view of the river framed by trees. An oval inset features a view of the garden at Yotsubashi. Color lithographic prints became popular in Japan after the Meiji restoration and often followed many of the same themes as woodblock prints. An interesting design, nicely detailed.
