Kawarazaki Gonjuro I as a Samurai Sitting in the Snow, 1861

Comments - Handsome kabuki portrait of Kawarazaki Gonjuro I as a samurai sitting in the snow outside a country house. He looks down with a worried frown, one hand tucked up into his sleeve. His straw raincoat and hat are covered with snow, and he has a black cloth over his head beneath his hat. The wall of the house is shabby with cracks in the plaster. A nice expressive figure in an interesting setting.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 9 1/4"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Backed with paper. Small loss at edge, wormhole, repaired. Slight toning and soiling, a few creases. Please see photos for details.
