Comments - Terrific scene showing the ladies of the Imperial Palace engaged in the process of raising silkworms. The Meiji Empress stands at top center flanked by two attendants, viewing the beauties at work. Below, two women use a feathers to gently brush the eggs from sheets of paper into a large tray. A great look at the traditional art of sericulture, with a handsome setting and lively color, detailed with embossing on the white kimono.
