Ichimura Uzaemon as Shimobe Shikazu, 1861

Comments - Interesting kabuki portrait of Ichimura Uzaemon as Shimobe Shikazu. He leans forward with a worried frown, reaching for the hilt of his sword. He wears a blue kimono bordered with colorful flowers, tied with a red striped obi and tucked up at the waist for easier movement. A curtain hanging overhead features a design of swallows flying in a rain storm with lightning and clouds above. A nicely detailed design.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 3/8" x 9 5/8"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Small loss and thinning at edge, a couple holes, repaired. Slight soiling and creasing, a few marks, slight glue and paper remnants at left side. Please see photos for details.
