Hanazuma and Tsukioka of the Hyogoya

Series; Courtesans of the Pleasure Quarters in Double Mirrors
Hosukaku Publisher, pre-1923

Hanazuma and Tsukioka of the Hyogoya - Lovely double portrait of the courtesans Hanazuma and Tsukioka of the Hyogoya. One reads a book while the other looks to the side with a smile. She wears a blue violet outer robe over a green and white kimono patterned with targets and what looks like bridges for a koto, over a rosy pink under robe, tied with a pale blue obi with a geometric design that includes maple leaves. Beautifully detailed with fine line work in the hair.

Artist - Utamaro (1750 - 1806)

Image Size - 14 3/4" x 9 7/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Slight toning, a couple small creases at edges, a few small marks. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
