Actors Enjoying the Cool of the Evening, 1847 - 1849

Comments - Handsome scene of three kabuki actors enjoying the evening cool. At left, Ichikawa Danjuro VIII relaxes on a bench with a pipe in hand, one geta clog kicked off with his leg pulled up. In the center, Bando Shuka I smiles back at him, a folding fan in hand. Her red under robe is visible beneath her sheer kimono. At right, Matsumoto Kinsho I scowls as he watches the beauty, a folding fan in hand and a blue cloth draped over his shoulder. Nice expressive figures, with soft shading in the background.
