Original Nobukazu (1874 - 1944) Japanese Woodblock Print
Visit to Kameido Shrine, 1893

Comments - Attractive view of Kameido Shrine in early spring. A couple walks across a narrow bridge in the foreground, the man wearing a top hat and diamond-patterned coat, and the beauty carrying a Western-style umbrella. The famous Half Moon Bridge is visible behind the couple, with the ornate shrine building rising beyond, topped with a golden phoenix. A nicely detailed scene with soft shading in the ground and sky and burnishing on the black coat.
